Coach Rogers is about to hit 500 wins and we want to honor his accomplishment!
As of April 17, 2007 Coach Rogers record is 492-167-60 combined for both boys and girls Glendale Soccer. With 23 regular season games and a strong squad this year’s girls should easily reach the 500 mark. We anticipate this historic win will occur sometime before the end of the regular season.
Our hope is that you will join us on the night of Coach’s 500th victory to help celebrate the combined success of the Falcons Nation. With the Falcons playing an “away year” schedule, this win will most likely come when we visit a Springfield area team so those attending may have to travel across town, or a few miles down the road.
If you would be able to join in the celebration please subscribe to this website by placing your email address in the box to the right. You will then receive email notification when we know the exact date, time and location of the likely 500th win.
If you would like to write a congratulatory note or letter to Coach you may do so with a comment to this site. We will present them to him at the recognition ceremony.
If you have contact with other former Falcons please pass this information on to them. We are attempting to contact all players, but records are incomplete and we do not have a master database of all players.
Please note that we are attempting to keep the full extent of our plans a secret from Coach. He is, of course, aware of the approach of this event, but he does not know exactly what kind of celebration we are planning. Your discretion in this effort toward secrecy is appreciated.
As always you can follow the Falcons season at glendalesoccer.com. We look forward to a large turnout in support of Coach Rogers. See you there!
Go Falcons!

1Hello Jeff and Congratulations on your 500th victory!! What an accomplishment–but the number of victories is only part of the story. The impact and positive influence that you have had on so many young people, and parents, is something to be proud of. I could not have asked for a better role model for Brandon during the vunerable high school years. I appreciate all that you did for him and many other players and kdis. It was a pleasure to work with you during those years and be part of the Glendale Soccer program.
Enjoy the Celebration and Good Luck on your future endeavors…..

2Congratulations Coach! Wow. Great job. I can’t begin to tell you what a great impact you had on my life while I played for you. You really were a great mentor, and I thank you for that.
And think about all of the crap that you had to put up with from us to get to this point. All the road trips! That is maybe more impressive than the wins. I am very grateful that you are still coming back for more.
Thank you to your family as well for their support of the team throughout my time there.
I wish you much more happiness and success in the future.

3Congrats on your 500th victory. Thanks for the great four years of coaching and friendship that you portrayed for us high school kids. You represent Glendale with great class and accomplishments. I stand firm in speaking for all of us in saying Glendale soccer couldn’t have ask for a better role model and coach with a strong vendetta against those cross town rivals. Thanks again and good luck in the future.

5Jeff,
Congratulations! You have achieved success beyond what anyone could ever have imagined. Your success is not necessarily the 500 games (but that does make it extra sweet). Your success is what you have been able to do with your players. I started to cal them “kids” but in fact they are young adults and this time in their lives is when they need strong guidance and role models.
What success your players achieve in their lives is reflective on you and your efforts. There are far too many great stories to tell about they way you have motivated and molded your players. There are also a ton of great stories about the fun times at Glendale Falcon Soccer.
Thanks for all you have done. You know you can count on all of the parent and players to help you out anytime you need help. It is the least we can do.
Any chance of whooping up on Kickapoo for that 500th?

7In August of 1988 we were traveling to a place called Springfield, Missouri, leaving the only place we knew- South Florida. Only married two months, we were embarking on life’s journey together, traveling to the unknown. I remember that night in the hotel that we found out you were offered the soccer coaching job at some high school called Glendale.
Little did we know then that Glendale High School and the community of soccer people that have grown into the ‘Falcon Nation’ would become our extended family.
I have watched you grow into an amazing man and devoted coach who absolutely loves his players. Your heart has always been dedicated to seeing your players develop into strong men and women with their own convictions and passions.
Our children have watched you model your integrity on and off the field in your quiet, unassuming way. Your character and strength have been a blessing to all who know you.
On September 19, 1989, our first son was brought into this world- which also happened to be the night of a Glendale/Kickapoo game. You were proudly holding Justin, enjoying your moment of being a dad, and said, “It’s time to go play, I’ll be back later.” Glendale soccer has been embedded into who we are as a family and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.
We love you, support you, and are so proud of the coach, dad, husband, and mentor you have become.
We are truly blessed to have you as our own head coach and to share you with the Glendale soccer family.
You’re simply the best!

9Jeff,
You have been such a big part of my life over the last ten years, and I’m sure that there is no way to thank you enough. If the measure of a coach is judged by their record, then there is no doubt that you have done a great job and will continue to do so. However, I know you well enough to know that when you are done coaching you hope to be remembered for more than your record. So many lives have been impacted in a positive way through your work. You never hid the fact that you are a Christian, and you displayed that commitment through your actions and words. I am very proud of your accomplishment in winning 500, but I am most proud to have played and worked with you. Enjoy this night!

13Jeff,
We celebrate with you your 500th victory on the soccer field! What an amazing accomplishment!
Even more amazing, however, is the tremendous influence you have had on the young people who have had the privilege to play for you. It was never just about soccer. You taught character, teamwork, sportsmanship, and life lessons that your players will carry with them throughout their lives.
We are grateful that our children have had the opportunity to play for you and to know you, both as a coach and as a friend.
Congratulations on a great milestone! Hopefully we’ll be around to celebrate your next 500 wins!

14Jeff,
We go back to the first weekend you came to Springfield with your parents for their new ministry. Than you went back to catch your bride away and come make a new life together. But as you came, who would have known that God would open a ministry to which you have had with so many kids.
You are a blessing to those young adults and in some cases their surrogate dad, (of course Jackie as mom) Both of you have embraced your ministry and have truly been an example of Christ to your kids.
Your integrity, your “tough love” and your honesty to the kids and their parents will never go unnoticed or be forgotten.
It is truly an honor to call you my friend.
Through the years you have shown to me Proverbs 22:1,4, & 6. Verse 6 says to train up a child in the way he should go, you have taken kids when they start high school and help to mold them to be young adults and to go away from high school and I truly believe even though all of us are not perfect and make all the right choices, you and Jackie have encouraged the kids, challenged the kids and sent them out as young adults with confidence that you did your best with the ministry God has put you in.
Thanks for your friendship and congratulation on your 500 th win. I just wish there weren’t so many of them against “us”.

15coach, what a priviledge it is to call you that even to this day. you have truly been an inspiration and someone i look to as a coach, friend, and mentor. the 500 wins you have achieved is nothing in comparison to the young lives you have helped mold into young adults outside of the game. so many people look to you for help, guidance, or just a friend to talk to and you have always been there. we, as a glendale nation, are lucky to have you. we all appreciate what you and your family has done for us and hope one day we might be able to return a fraction of what you have given to each of us. coach, we love you, we are proud of you, and hope you many more victories to come.

16Jeff,
Congratulations on this great achievment 500 wins it really is something to be proud of all the players that have came and palyed. I know that they all have learned life lessons on the field with you there to help them.
I remember when Randi decided to play high school ball I was afraid she had made a mistake and that it would be difficult on her since she had sit out her freshman year. You made it all so easy for her we never looked back. Through all the injuries you continued to support her and help her grow. I’ll never forget the night and the daty after they won the first district title. It was a great moment for all the girls, parents and the program.
A lot could say it was just another win but I have learned that you cheerish all the wins and all the players and most of the parents. You have never taken an opponent for granted and you’ve always done the right thing for the players and the program. This honor couldn’t have happened without your herd work and love of the game.
Enjoy the moment and thanks to you and your family for being a friend and a coach.

17Dear Jeff,
It is thrilling to see the success in your life and the fruit of your labor. I am not surprised at these accomplishments because I observed many outstanding qualities in your life when you were in high school. It was a privilege to coach you and to see you develop the leadership qualities that are so evident today in your life. I am confident that along with the many victories that have been complied that you have molded and impacted many young people and their futures. I regret that I have never had the opportunity to see you “in action” as a coach, but perhaps that may occur one day in the future. Congratulations and keep up the great work! A job well done brings glory and honor to our Savior. Keep serving Him with all your heart.

18Jeff:
My memories of playing soccer at Glendale are very fond for many reasons. You and your family always had a large presence. Whether it was Randy coaching JV, you coaching Varsity or us (the players) wrapping Jake and Justin up in the ball bag, you could always expect a Rogers or two to be hanging around. I also remember the foreign exchange student from Brazil, Sasha, who we all called “Salsa”. Believe it or not, you even crowned Erik Pacyniak with the moniker that still follows him today, E.P. But I digress.
I think the common themes of character building, role modeling and mentoring mentioned in nearly everyone’s comments is a testimony to how your consistency as a coach and person have touched many (or they are copying off the person ahead of them). I hope you get to do this for another 500 wins or more.
Congratulations and good luck on your next 500.

19Jeff:
The Glendale Soccer program accepted me when my family moved to Springfield in 1990. I was a scared, average player that needed guidance and encouragement. You gave that to me. You pushed us, cared for us, and laughed with us.
Eight years later, and after four years of college soccer, I arrived on your field again. This time I was a scared, rookie English teacher with the hopes of coaching. I needed guidance and encouragement. You gave that to me. Not once did you treat me like a mere “assistant.” You gave me responsibilities, you gave me your trust, and you gave me your confidence. You also made me cut kids from the JV team–I will never forgive you for that. I learned how to be a coach, and I learned how to deal with people. You empowered me to make the right decisions and you sought my advice. I am a blessed man to have been on the sidelines with you for six years.
I know you understand how much your family has meant to mine over the years, but it’s also nice to be reminded of it, especially in a public manner like this. I hope you enjoy all of these comments.
Congrats on reaching #500,

20I am so proud of your commitment to the soccer program and congrats on your 500th win… You taught the young men and women much more than soccer… the things they learned from you will take them through their entire lives. Over the 8 years that I was a parent of two of your players, I saw such amazing changes in the lives of both Ty and Taylor. They grew into young men with a great understanding of teamwork and commitment to they team, both on and off the field…the family values that you taught and showed the players will always be remembered…Keep up the great work…. 22Congrats, Coach Rogers, on your 500th win. That is such an impressive accomplishment. Reading all of the above comments has been so touching, especially as I remember back to my Glendale days (and I am thankful I was not one of the players Coach Stratman had to cut his first year!).
When I first saw your site and my husband asked what I was reading, my immediate response was that my high school coach was being honored…..and that “he was the best coach ever!”. You taught us such a unique and wonderful balance between having the best time but also working hard. You truly inspired us to become better players and also better people.
High school soccer is one of my most fond memories of growing up, and you are a large part of that. When we would play other teams and I saw how mean/discouraging their coaches were, I was always so thankful to play for you.
No one deserves this honor more than you. Congrats! And best wishes with many more wins in the future.

23Hello Jeff:
Congratulations on achieving 500 wins with the boy’s and girl’s soccer teams. This is a tremendous accomplishment and we are both thrilled at your achievement.
As always, you will point out that these wins were accomplished by the players on the field (you just stood there and watched). Comments like these are based on the high degree of class you exhibit and your natural humbleness. However, we watched as you led both Christopher and Rebecca through 8 years of soccer. Yes, they won many games on the field. But along the way, they learned how to be winners, how to exhibit good sportsmanship, how to function on a team, and how to accept defeat gracefully. These are the exceptional contributions you made to my children and they will last their entire lives.
It has been our distinct pleasure knowing and working with you in the Glendale sports program. We wish you and your family the very best.
Sincerely,

I’m sorry I haven’t kept in touch over the years, but I want to say congratulations on your 500th win. That is such a great accomplishment, but with a coach like you, I’m not surprised at all. Through my 12 years of playing soccer, I’ve had numerous coaches, but you are by far one of my favorite. You could always crack a joke and make us smile, but you knew when to get tough on us as well. I never felt intimated or scared when I played for you; rather I respected you, which always made me want to play my hardest in order to impress you.
I’ll never forget the days of bargaining, riding the “yellow biscuit”, prom talks, and barbie bed time stories. Thank you so much for making my 4 years at Glendale memorable. And I’m proud that I could be a part of your 500 wins…thanks again for everything!

28Coach,
Finally you get a night for you. You always put us as your players before you no matter what victory we were celebrating. If it wasnt for you being the coach at Glendale who knows what high school I would of ended up at. These past 4 years will be ones I never forget for numerous reasons, (mainly all those wins against Kickapoo) but the soccer I played here in Springfield has influenced the rest of my life, and I know I am not the only player you have influenced. That last sectional win against the Poo will be replayed over and over again in mind, especialy your run into the locker room at half (I dont know who was enjoying the win more - you or us). What a great feeling. You do more than just coach a soccer team, and I thank you for that. I am honored to be the senior class when you get to this mark. Thank you for these past 4 years and I am excited that I will be in town to watch more of the great Glendale tradition, that you created, continue on. Congrats on the 500!

31Papa (As all of us called you during my last few years),
Our nickname to you says so much in itself. You were so much of a father figure to all of us. (I don’t think anyone will ever forget your prom talks). But beyond being that, you always seemed to have the perfect words for every situation. Since I was a freshman, you always had me striding towards more. I would never have been the player I was without you.
Even though I grew up living and breathing the game, you showed me how much more there is to it. Everyday, I learned something new. And now, after playing college soccer, I have relearned to appreciate you. You truly care for each and every player, and will always have something to teach each of us. You showed me there was always something to play for, always something to prove.
We have all been so lucky to have you in our lives, with soccer and in life. I skim down the list of people already posted, and it amazes me to see at all the people you have influenced.
Congratulations Rogers, 500 is beyond unbelievable.
And thanks for everything,

33Jeff,
You have contributed so much over the years to the Springfield community. Without equivocation it is clear you always fought hard to take your team as far as it could go each season. However, we’ve always had a sense that when the season ended for your team you would sincerely pull for any Springfield team to be as successful as it could possibly be, in the event it was still playing.
This fine character trait is also evident in what seems to be a genuine desire to see all those in business, you are associated with, succeed. Your many hours of community service and authentic friendship have gone along way to making this happen.
Your accomplishment and honor tonight could not have happened for a more deserving man.
Congratulations!

35Jeff, you had such a positive and significant influence on our daughter, Maddie! You cared about her, believed in her, saw her strengths, knew her weaknesses, and continued in her a passion for the game of soccer. She always had the utmost respect for you as a coach and an individual, and she still does. I’ll never forget the first year she played for you, and came home with the “parable” about prom! She told us about “story time” on road trips, and how the players always looked forward to seeing what book you would read and how you related it to “real life!” It takes a gift to be a coach who adolescents look up to, respect, and want to work hard for, and you have that gift. You are a gentle man, yet strong in your convictions; an individual who we have been blessed to have in our daughter’s life. It takes a village to raise a child, and we are so thankful you have been there for Maddie. Thank you, and congratulations!

37Coach Rogers,
Wow! Congratulations on big win number 500! You have absolutely earned every single one of them. More importantly, you have earned the respect, love, and admiration of an even more important number–the number of people whose lives you have influenced in such a positive way over the years. You made myself and everyone around you the best they could be. You demanded the best, not for yourself, but for your players. We understood that. You cared about us. You wanted us to succeed. You pushed us hard, yet at the same time you always kept that delicate balance between competitiveness and fun, coach and friend. Never in a million years did I think I would miss running a full-field sprint with a taste of soap in my mouth as a result of my vocabulary–but do I ever!! In all seriousness, high school is such an important age in a young man’s life, and what an honor it is to have had you as a mentor, leader, coach and inspiration. Thanks for the memories, and I wish you the very best in helping so many more young people make memories of their own. Congratulations!

Congratulations on an outstanding achievement!! It goes to show that you certainly don’t have to excel at playing a sport to be successful coaching it:) (What are brothers for). It’s moving to see all the lives that have been touched whether directly or indirectly thru your leadership–What a legacy. We’ve shared some “interesting” times on the soccer field whether it was coaching, playing or watching, soccer has had a profound impact on the Rogers family. God has used you to take falcons where eagles soar, and with the impact that has been made I say it would be well worth another 500 wins. Always remember that the eternal far outweighs the here and now. It’s a privelege to call you brother.

Congratulations on your 500th win. Wow! That’s big time. I have to say my four years of Glendale Soccer would never have been the same without you as a coach. What would practice be without the chance to “double or nothing” (or even “triple or nothing”) our way out of sprints? I think my favorite years as a Glendale Falcon were freshman and sophomore year when you coached our amazing team to back-to-back district champs!! You really bring a lot to the program. Many memories lie within the legacy of Glendale Soccer which you have created. Congratulations Rogers! You deserve this!

44Dear Jeff:
Congratulations on #500! It seems like not so long ago, Jim and I were your biggest fans as we sat in the stands watching you play soccer for HCA- those were great days! I know the skills, integrity, and competitive spirit learned in those years have helped mold you into a greatly admired and respected coach, on field as well as off.
We have always been so proud of you and your accomplishments, which are many, but most importantly, we know you have never compromised your moral standards, ethics, and commitment to Christ. As a husband to our daughter and a father to our grandchildren, the most important coaching is done at home. You have done a wonderful job in demonstrating godly wisdom and unconditional love to your family as well as the many lives you have touched throughout these past years.
We love you dearly,
Ginge (and in memory of Jim- Papaw)

46Coach Rogers (PAPA!!),
Wow, so many memories with so little of a space to write. Congratulations on your 500th win! I will never forget my four years at Glendale with you as my coach. Yeah, the first week of practice always stunk every year, but I now appreciate the reasons as to why you were so evil that week.
Not only that, the DOUBLE OR NOTHINGS in practice! Those were intense! I must tell you, I REALLY miss my bedtime stories now! I always got a kick out of that fun time in Sedalia. Not only that, the PROM talk. Way to let us know PAPA!
You brought so much to the program, and it has definitely showed. You cared about your players, and I thank you for that. Glendale soccer probably would not have gotten to where it is right now if you hadn’t been there. Congratulations, and thanks for being such a great role model in my life. “And we go!” (Such an awesome phrase

Congrats on the big 500. The past 3 years have been so memorable in every aspect. From the road trips to THE ROLLA GAME and everything in between. You are the coach that everyone wishes they had but only the lucky ones have the luxury of playing for. Youre an excellent role model and teach us not only about soccer, but about life. (prom talks) You bring out the best in each and every player you coach and have made such an impact on so many peoples lives. I am honored to have played for you these past three years and I am soo looking forward to my senior year. A year which will hold laughing, crazy road trips, story time, prom talks and championships. (hopefully no injuries) Congrats Rogers, we all love you!

You were the best man at my wedding and my best friend in life. Your dedication to excellence is revealed both on and off the field with your players. They respect and look up to you as a leader, which is inspirational. Even though, during my senior year you guys laid down at State, so you could return your senior year to become Highland’s first State Soccer Champs, look what you have become. I don’t know many people who can claim they have 500 of anything, let alone Wins. So, congrats my little brother on your 500th win. This is truly an epic achievement.

Congratulations on your 500th victory, some of my best memories of Sarah Bell’s H.S. were her experiences playing soccer on your team, it kept us close during her last years at home. Your name still comes up when we talk about that time.
Highlights: Sedalia Tournaments, Kickapoo PK win for Districts, John Senkowski and I mowing the field with a push mower - no one had it looking better!

I will never forget how nervous I was coming out to play highschool soccer as a freshman, and you were so encouraging. You taught me pretty much everything there was to know about the game and playing on your team those four years made me realize how much I loved the game! I was able to go on and play in college, which was something i never thought i would want to do…You helped me excel in a sport that i will never stop loving! Congratulations on an incredible achievement! Peggy and I are grateful for the opportunities that Chelsea and Erin had playing under your guidance. For Chelsea, the experience was brief - the first ‘exhibition’ year - but a wonderful reunion with a sport she loves. Erin had the full four year treatment and has wonderful memories of her time on the team.
Thanks for your continuing commitment to women’s team sports. The young ladies gain invaluable experiences - commitment, dedication and reliance on teammates - that stay with them in their future endeavors.
You don’t need us to tell you what a huge difference you make in the lives of these young people, but we will proudly stand in a very long line of parents whose children have been positively influenced by you.

58Hey Jeff,
Congratulations! Reaching 500 wins is no easy job that few coaches have been able to achieve. You’ve done a tremendous job in growing the Glendale soccer program and Springfield soccer as a whole. The level of play and caliber of players is much better than what it was when I graduated in 1991 and you’re a big part of that.
Aside from your tactical knowledge of the game, I believe your 500 wins results from being a leader who can strategically look at the skills each player brings to the field, align them in the best role or position, and motivate them to give everything they have for the team. Players respect you Jeff because you push them to be their best and support them along the way. That results in success every time no matter what the scoreboard says at the end of the game.
Thanks for your dedication. The results go well beyond the soccer field for me and I know for many of your players.

Nice job Jeff!! Congrats. It was truly an honor to have coached by your side for a year. I learned alot about you that year. I know most people have an idea but don’t truly know how much you give to the kids and the Glendale program. You and Jackie have sacraficed your lives for the program. We as family members know that soccer is a big part of your life. 500 is a great accomplishment. Lets face it, you haven’t always had the best talent on the field, but you have always been able to get the win. It can never be said that a Glendale team was out coach, but you have certainly out coached alot of teams in the area. Springfield soccer has come a very long way since the days I played, thanks to the work you have put into it. Enjoy this night, then bring home a state championship to Springfield soon.

You should take great pride in all your accomplishments! There are not many people who can claim such a positive influence on so many young adults. Speaking from personal experience, the impact you had on Danny was amazing. From the first day of tryouts, you made a difference. He wanted to work harder to please himself but also to please you. You inspired him to set goals and when they were reached, to set new ones. He was never happier than at the beginning of each season, and never more sad than when the season came to an end. He is a better young man because of your influence. We thank you sincerely for all you have done for him and all the other players who have been lucky enough to be coached by you.

We were lucky enough to have been there from the very first year you

I was there at the beginning when a small group of soccer parents made a plea to the Director of Athletics for the Springfield Schools for a new coach for the Glendale soccer team. 79Jeff,
If you are reading this, you have achieved another important milestone in your life, a coach with 500 wins! That is impressive no doubt about it. I will never forget my first experience at a soccer game at Highlands Christian Academy; guys in shorts running after a ball trying to kick it into a huge net. You could not hit the guys on the other team or the ref would hold up a yellow card, whoopee! Of course when it involved my boys I was interested and wanted to learn more. I soon found out the net was not as easy to hit with the ball as I had first imagined, especially since the opposing team had a guy in the net that kept knocking the ball away. I also discovered that keeping the ball away from the opposing team was difficult because you could not hit them. No three strikes and you’re out in this game, only two (yellow cards) and you were “outa there”! In time I became a soccer fan and discovered I was among the fans of the largest spectator sport in the world. Who knew? I have spent a lot of hours on soccer fields in Florida and Missouri since that time, watching all four of my sons play. All four have coached at some level and now I get to watch my grandchildren play the game. I am thrilled I could be there for win 500! I was there for win1.
Jeff, you have had more important wins and possibly many more than 500. You have had great wins in affecting the young people that God has allowed you to mentor not only in the game of soccer but in life. Your impact on lives because you care more about the players than winning games is huge! I have read some of the comments they speak for themselves.
Beyond soccer, you are a great husband, dad and son. And oh yea, you are a great coach as well!
Love you buddy,

80Jeff,
You know that sports information has not ever been my strong suit. Raising four very competitive boys, I often felt totally left out of the conversations or arguments that took place at our dinner table. You may remember when I tried to change the subject to something I enjoyed or at least understood, everyone would stop and look at me for a minute and then ignore me and go back to “sports talk”.
After reading the comments from your many players, parent and friends I am a very blessed. There is truly ”no greater joy that to hear that my children are walking in the Truth” (3 John 4). Jeff you are uniquely gifted and it is very evident in all that you do. I do know enough about sports to know that winning 500 games is a great accomplishment in any sport at any level.

81Jeff: If the first year of Emilee’s high school soccer career is any indication, the remaining three will be just as intense and hold a lot of promise. WOW!! Congratulations on such an awesome achievement. And going into our 9th soccer season with you as coach( with one more year to go), we have seen not only what a great coach and leader of the game you are, but also you have been a wonderful role model and great influence in shaping our boys life’s to be their fullest. We feel so fortunate to have had Neil, Jacob, and now Graham playing under your reign as head coach. Waaaaaay back in 1999, when Neil was just a freshman, not only did I not know how he would adjust to high school, but how would he adjust to play with the “big boys soccer”!! After my first “tailgate party”, and hearing your “coach talk”, I knew that our start in the Falcon Nation was the beginning of wonderful things to come. I really don’t know what we will do after next year when we won’t have a tailgate party or soccer banquet to attend!!
So, we want to say a big THANK YOU for not only the wonderful memories and great soccer games, but for also being the great coach and mentor that you are!!!!

Congrats on 500, the 4 years of soccer at Glendale were the most fun I’ve ever had playing soccer. I appreciate everything you have done for me and being understanding of it all. You coach the right way and I’ll never forget how much fun it was playing for you. Thank you for everything

97Coach Rogers (Papa),
The last few years playing for you at Glendale have been the most exciting and most memorable times for me during my soccer career. You’ve been such an inspiration to everyone you’ve coached over the years. Since Freshman year I’ve felt like our team has been a family, which has brought us all closer and changed us into better players. Tournaments and practices have been some of the most fun times of my life. Thank you so much for being such an amazing coach and making spring season something to look forward to. You’re the best!!!

98Rogers(Papa),
Congratulations on the big 500. These past two years have been two of the best. Playing for you has been one of the best expierences I could have ever been put through. I feel that with every win we make you proud, but with every loss we disappoint you, because you love us and demand the best from us. When my Glendale teammates and I share stories of our “papa” the girls from other schools, (especially Kickapoo) get jealous because no other coach could be as great as you. I will treasure the next two years as I have the past two. Thank you for being my other dad on away soccer tournaments and trips. This year we’re going to win championships.
Thank you for everything, I love you.
Emily Jordan
P.S. Goodnight, my angel.

99Yeah, considering our lacrosse record back in college we never thought he would win at anything. And now 500 wins! That is really cool. Congrats JR!

100Jeff,
Congratulations on number 500!
I know that both of my kids have loved playing for you and I truly appreciate the support and advice that you provided during my tenure at Pershing.
I would like to thank your family for allowing you to coach. It is certainly not a get rich quick scheme and it requires more sacrifice and commitment from your family than most people can imagine.
My soccer website retirement is near. I look forward to seeing the Jeff Rogers 1000 website that someone else maintains!
Thanks!

103Hey Jeff,
What an amazing accomplishment!!! Yes the 500 wins are awesome, but what they represent is even more important. Every one of us has some story, thought, or memory of how a coach has made an impact on our lives. As I read a few of the comments I was impressed with the obvious contribution you have made in so many lives…both players and parents.
While soccer has been a passion for you since I have known you in college, you have succeeded in transferring that passion for the game into a passion for the lives that game touches. This to me is the most notable accomplishment…to live your life is such a way that you impact lives for Jesus Christ.
Congratulations on all the victories. I expect to be writing again when you reach 1,000. Keep up the good work!!
Best regards,
Bill (Carl Dick) Rice

106Congrats Papa!
500 wins is a huge accomplishment that I know most coaches can only strive for, but not actually achieve. You are such a great person, and I know that is what makes you such a great coach! Good Luck in the coming years, I am sure that you will add many more tallies in the win column before you are done! In the game of life what truly matters is the amount of lives you touch and improve. For you this number is countless and growing everyday, I know I am one of those people and I thank you for that!

108PAPA!
I was so excited to hear you got your 500th win! it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving coach! I think you are the only person I know that could pull off reading “The Little Engine That Could” and all of us leaving the room truly inspired and ready to play our hearts out the following morning both for the game and for you. You made a huge impact on my life both on and off the field and you will always have my utmost respect! You made us proud to wear a Falcon uniform!
“Double or Nothing” Papa, lets make it 500 more!

111Coach Rogers(Papa - still rolling about that one - sending it to Head!)
Congrats on your 500th win!!! I’m sure Mr. D is very proud of you at this time! Seems like just yesterday you were making a move and flying down the right side crossing a wicked ball for Rusty to finish home! You must have included the 1:45 minute line drill in your conditioning program in order to realize so many wins!!
Really though, I can only imagine that reaching a milestone like this takes dedication, sacrifice, and excellent coaching and leadership qualities. Although I have not been able to witness this in person, in reading the previous comments from former players/parents, you obviously have impacted several lives in the Springfield community in a positive manner! That INFLUENCE is what will have a long lasting affect on generations to follow!!
-Tim
P.S. I understand Cleve has included you and this special milestone in the final chapter of “Rusty’s Wood.”

112Jeff,
Congrats on win #500. You challenge your players on both teams to be competitive and never shy away from the competition. I has been a pleasure working with you on both the boy’s and girl’s side in the tournaments I run and look forward to the years ahead working with you. The players and parents of Glendale should be proud to have a dedicated person coaching their teams.

113Coach!!
For as long as you have been coaching you better have had 500 wins by now!! You know I am kidding.. Your record is such a wonderful and admirable achievement. You are such a incredible spirit with a huge heart. I grew up in this soccer community and looking at all the messages you have received I swear you seem to have impacted almost every person that has ever had contact with the soccer family that has developed throughout Springfield. Your dedication and ability to bring out the best in people is a quality that I have always admired. You always had a way of making the game fun (even when us overly competitive people tried to take the “fun” out for everyone else) Some of my greatest memories are days that were spent on the field with you!!! (Mostly the contribution to your 500 when we beat Kickapoo-first in a lighting storm only to come back and finish them off the next evening) Yes insert teary sappy story when I made you hold my hand while we had the shoot out! In all seriousness though from this long winded message…congratulations not only for your 500 wins, but more importantly this is time for you to realize the impact you have had on so many peoples lives and allow us all to recognize you and the contributions you have made on our lives. -Randi Christenson

114Jeff,
I am so proud to know such a warm hearted, quality guy. I know there are many coaches who have the opportunity every day to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people and for some reason overlook that fact. They get caught up in just the coaching, never seeing the players as individuals. It is heartwarming to read the comments of appreciation of these young women and men for all you have done and are doing. I have always said that playing a team sport is so much more than learning and playing that sport. You obviously knew that and have taken advantage of being a part of their lives in a positive, personal way.
My love and best wishes on your continued success.

115Jeff,
Congratulations to a great accomplishment and a big milestone. You have done a fantastic job in preparing your Glendale teams every year to be very competetive and strong on the pitch. After Tom (Howe) and I spoke at your banquet back in 1990, I have followed your teams closely and I have been very impressed with your strong consistent showings. As a former coach, you know as well as I do, we are there for the players and love for the game. Comments I have heard from your former players only tells me what great influence you have had on them and that is what is important. Victories and milestones are great, but it’s what you teach the players on and off the field that matters the most and you are a master at that. Once again, a big congratulations to your great accomplishment. Keep going and once you decide to retire, please join me and others on the “other” side and start refereering…you’ll see a different perspective of this great game!

117Coach Rogers - 500 wins! You’ve come a long way from your first girls’ soccer camp when I was still in grade school and you were fielding your first girls’ team. I have fond memories of those high school playing years and especially of your ability to handle, mentor, and enjoy a group of adolescent girls with unique personalities. I also respect how you handled that infamous prom debacle and taught us to accept responsiblity for our behavior.

121Coach, congratulations on your 500th win! What an amazing accomplishment. Thanks to you, soccer is still an important part of my life. You are a great coach, mentor, and an inspiration to all! During out of town tournaments, you handled a bus full of teenage girls pretty well, and you always knew how to answer our questions when Prom and Homecoming were appoaching. Thanks for everything that you’ve done for us. Good luck in the future.

122Jeff:
It’s been a great pleasure during the last eleven years to know you [and your family]. Congratulations on the 500 wins, but more importantly for being a great coach, dedicated father, and an outstanding leader to the hundreds of young people you’ve worked with over the years . . . I know you’ve taught them more about life, than simply soccer skills.
Now, just for the fun of it - go ahead and win 500 more to make it 1,000!

Congratulations on that big number! I can imagine only a small part of the work and dedication it has taken you and your teams to get to this amazing accomplishment. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know you a bit better this past year. You are such an understanding and patient man, I truly enjoy working with you. In fact, how do we find more coaches like you? After all, you manage working with Sharron every day! Ha!
